I’ve added more information below about a few of these conditions and how reflexology can help.
STRESS & ANXIETY
Reflexology can improve circulation throughout the body and reduce the discomfort of common physical manifestations of stress. These include muscle tension, bloating, feelings of a tight chest, fatigue and nausea- to name a few! Reflexology can also can help lower cortisol and adrenaline production, support vagal tone and regulate your peripheral and nervous systems. This in turn helps your body in being able to activate its parasympathetic nervous system more readily when needed.
When pressure is applied to reflex points, it triggers the release of endorphins which are natural mood-enhancing and pain-relieving chemicals. This relaxation response not only reduces stress but also helps individuals feel more grounded and centered.
I also offer NEPIP (Neuro Endo Psycho Immuno Pody) which is a unique treatment accessing the immune, endocrine and nervous systems, alongside powerful intention setting and guided visualisations.
FERTILITY
Hormone balancing is a core principle of reflexology. Using an endocrine sweep, your hormones can be better balanced and menstrual cycles regulated. This is also very effective if you’re struggling with symptoms of the menopause.
Reflexology is excellent for creating a better blood flow, easing menstrual cramps and helping with symptoms of PMS.
It’s also fantastic for helping to alleviate symptoms of the menopause including anxiety, insomnia, mood swings and libido.
PREGNANCY
This method of supporting the efficient function of hormone glands can also be very helpful for creating the right environment if you’re wanting to conceive. It can also be used to support the male reproductive system in improving the quality and quantity of sperm produced. It is safe to have reflexology if you’re trying to conceive through IVF, IUI or ICSI and can help to prepare the uterus so that the environment for embryo transfer is as favourable as possible.
Many women find reflexology beneficial throughout their pregnancy, as it can help relieve symptoms of nausea, pelvic girdle pain, acid reflux, anxiety, back pain and sleep difficulties. Similarly, treatments can be continued into post natal stages to relieve uncomfortable symptoms and bring about a sense of calm.
Reflexology can help induce labour naturally from week 38. It can also be used during labour to reduce pain perception, shorten the second stage of labour and kick start contractions if they begin to slow down during labour or when you’re delivering your placenta.
